Overheard XV

It’s a very hot Saturday in Baltimore, and a couple is at the liquor store stocking up: a bottle of gin, a bottle of scotch and 3 bottles of wine.  Long weekend?  Company?

The guy in line behind them is buying a six pack of beer and at one o’clock in the afternoon it’s pretty obvious this isn’t his first of the day.

“Hope that’s not just for the two of you,” beer-dude chuckles, “That’s a lot.”

If the couple glanced at each other, I didn’t see it. We all kept standing quietly in line as their order was bagged up.

“Hey, some advice,” he said as they headed out the door. “Try weed some time.”

He chuckled again, shaking his head. They didn’t look back.

I am a misanthrope. No one ever believes me, but this seems to prove my point.
