I went to my local bookstore today (not the independent one – frankly, it sucks. Can you imagine the poetry section at Barnes and Noble is better?!) and tried checking out the mystery section. Again.

What is with mysteries?

They all seem to be gimmicky, glitchy things.

Cats this, alphabet soup that, historical figures rewritten in absurd ways. And recipes. Just about anything to catch your eye except a good story. Though those are hard to market, I understand.

I am a misanthrope. No one ever believes me, but this seems to prove my point.
