writers on motherhood

Erica Jong thinks we’ve gone too soft on our kids and too hard on ourselves.  Though her call for freedom rings true.

Jane Smiley is in a self-congratulatory mood and thinks we’re too hard on ourselves and at our best as mothers when we do whatever we feel like doing.

I find the articles awkward and strained.  Interesting nonetheless.
